A Baby Shower For Maximus!

Okay, since I am home all the time now and needed to find a way to communicate our family events with all of our family and friends, I thought what better way then to create a blog so that we can all be connected. A lot of my friends have one and I love reading them to see what fun and interesting things happen in others lives.

So on to the funner part of this, sharing this very memorable time as we celebrated our final baby shower, and invited all our friends and family to enjoy this time with us. A lot of people asked why I decided to throw my own baby shower. Those who really know me made fun of me, but the reason must come out: My husband, Alex sad that I could go all out and since I am so very picky I decided the best way to go all out, and to have a terrific time would be to plan my own shower, and make it all that I may have thought I wanted it to be. :) Yep, that's me, I like to get what I want, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

The theme of the Baby Shower was Frogs, the colors were brown and green, same s baby Max's nursery. The pictures of the shower are worth a thousand words. It was so much fun. We laughed nearly the whole time and I truly enjoyed all the friends and family that could make it to the event.

I think my favorite part of the decorations was the candy bar. I found this idea through pinterest and decided that I wanted something with all green candies. By the time I was done I had spent nearly $80 on candy and the jars, but I have to say it was worth it because it looked amazing and every one loved it.
I got the most of the glass jars at the dollar tree and then just glued them to candle sticks that I also found at the dollar tree to create different levels of goodness. Among the candies I bought were carnival pops that I wrapped in green tissue paper and created my center piece from that. I got green laughy taffy ropes, green airheads, green bubblegum, green sour straws, green gummie bears and worms, green appleheads, green candy sticks, green apple frootie tooties, green taffy, green mint M&M's and green sixletts, I also added chocolate and white chocolate pretzels.

This was the candy center piece made from the carnival pops.

Alex's mom loves to soil me with her flower shop decorations. She supplied the tables, chairs, table clothes, overlays, and the most gorgeous frog centerpieces as well as the balloons.
Of course the balloons are green and brown with a big frog. :)

We used the crate paper and decoration that I bought at both Hobby Lobby and Party City to create the over head decorations and add flare.

I also found the punch recipe on Pinterest. Of course it had to be green. It was a combination of frozen lemonade, lime sherbet, and sprite, I also added fresh cut limes at the top with the foam. I ha my Granny whip this together while I got dressed for the party.

Here are the up close pictures of the gorgeous centerpieces. Like I said my mother in law loves to spoil me. :)

My sister purchased a bunch of frog stuff for the babies gift and so we decided to make a visual decoration from all the fun frog stuff.

For dessert we had an assortment of goodies; brownies, frog shapes sugar cookies, cupcakes with the fun green frosting, and of course the candy bar.

I am not sure why my sister wasn't in this picture, but this is my dad's wife Linda and my Granny.
We didn't get a picture of what we served for lunch, but we just did turkey wraps from Costco, Veggie Platters, and fruit kabobs.

Some of the girls from college made it down for the shower. Among them include my best friends Jessica and Lindsey.

Some of the ladies from church made it to the shower, and we all decided it was nice enough outside to enjoy the weather while we ate lunch. I had so much fun with everyone. :)

Alex's side of the family also made it to the shower. His mother, his tia's. Also pictured here is Marina, who is having a boy and we are like 3 days apart on our due dates.

When guests arrived they were asked to sign this green onesie that I plan to put in Baby Max's room on the wall, as a keepsake.

We decided it was time to move the party inside to play games.

One of the games was guess the poopy diaper. I used 5 different melted chocolate bars for this game. I just love watching everyoe put their nose inside the diaper and smell to figure out the chocolate.

The next game we played, which was ongoing, was "Don't Say Baby" every one was given a candy bracelet and told not to say baby, the person that collected the most bracelets won.

I think my favorite game was "Pop the Baby out" the object was you have to put the ice cube in your mouth and be the first to get the baby out, or in our case I used the pacifiers. Watching this was hilarious, the facial expressions were priceless because the ice was so cold. I think a lot of us had a hard time playing the game because we were laughing to hard.
We also played baby word scramble, which I think I might have made it to hard because I put all the letters fo eah word in alphabetical order.

Another game was guess the candy in the jar. I couldn't find a green bottle so I used a cup instead and gave that as the prize.

We played guess the mother's belly size, oh boy that was fun. I guess I am a lot bigger than I thought I was, LOL, well according to some people.

The game winners were all given a prize that was put in a bag with a frog on it of course. I was going to buy candles, but decided to do body wash with lotion an a lofa, the cute little gift sets.

We finally made it to opening gifts, and my niece was there to hand me the gifts. At this point I was talking and not paying attention, and my niece was having a rough time holding the gift. LOL so funny.

By the time I was done opening gifts Baby Max had enough clothes to last him until he is at least 1. The fun part of this was that he got outfits to dress like a pirate, pilot, superman, a fireman, a sheriff, a race car driver, and I seem to have forgotten what else.
All of the gifts were amazing, and so thoughtful. I love them all. :)

The end of the shower was complete when my bet friend Jessica sealed it with a kiss to Baby Max.

On the way out every one was asked to grab a delicious Hoppy Scrub, which was a Cucumber Melon, or Coconut sugar scrub. These truly are amazing and were so easy and fun to make.

Thanks again for all those that were able to make it to the shower, and help make this a wonderful time.
